Do you have DVD CLUTTER?

NOT TO ACQUIRE.

Now, we do like movies in our home. We love our Disney Princesses and Super Heroes. My daughter truly believes that she is both a princess and a super hero. I love that about her. I want to be a Power Ranger – legit! I am waiting to get recruited any day now…

But DVD clutter has been an issue in my home. A certain someone in my home does not believe in putting the DVD back in its case. Often the DVD does not make it back to a case at all. THIS DRIVES ME INSANE! I was looking around last week and noticing the stacks of DVD cases and DVDs out of their home laying around. Why is this a source of clutter? I feel like it does not need to be.

I threw out all of the DVDs in my home…

No, I didn’t. I really felt like it though. What did I do instead to prevent this simple cause to CLUTTER?

I purchased a DVD portfolio to contain all of the DVDs and games we have. You do not know how excited I was for this. It was like Christmas, but organizing makes me happy because it makes my life a little less stressful. Yay to a Dopamine release – this causes us to have those happy feelings!

Now, I normally inclined to keep my DVD collection alphabetized. That makes me happy, but it is just not realistic for my family. Take a deep breath. That is okay.

BUT I could not help myself but to divide this little binder a little bit. Organization makes me happy remember. So,  I separated the binder by Children/Family Movies, Mommy and Daddy Movies, and X-Box/Play Station Games.

I then recycled all of the DVD/Games cases! Two garbage bags later…

Momma was a little happier. Bella loved being involved in the process and looking at all of the movie options. She has really enjoyed picking out her movies for movie nights! I thought I would miss the cases, but I am relieved they are gone.

Take action on something that is weighing you down! Life is too short to be weighed down by things that do not matter. Do yourself a favor this week and do something for you! That may be taking a walk or it may be de-cluttering a location in your home. If you need a little motivation, please give me a call. I can help guide you on how to get organized and feel those happy feelings!

I am a hardworking, full-time mother of two beautiful children under the age of two. When I became a mother for the first time almost 2 years ago, I changed greatly. Being a mother is one of the most amazing roles and I am grateful for the blessing. It is also one of the most challenging jobs, whether you are a working mother or a stay at home mom. Working through postpartum depression, I determined that the challenges of motherhood and life seemed to be overshadowing the many joys of motherhood. With much research, I found that the same words continued to pop up: intentional, purposeful, and mindful. This led me to start thinking about how I can be more intentional, purposeful, and mindful in all aspects in my life. The thought is really profound and overwhelming because it could be a major change for my family. I believe in this change and I am jumping into this journey with the great support of my husband. Here I am blogging about my journey. Please join me!
